Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the condition of social welfare in Indonesia and the global context, including the impacts of COVID-19 pandemics on Social Welfare. Furthermore, this study also attempts to emphasize the role of research and innovations in improving social welfare policies. The efforts made in social research supports innovation in the social welfare policies. Research is fundamental for innovation to take place in order to implement social welfare policies more effectively and efficiently. The COVID-19 pandemic causes a number of challenges from the perspective of social welfare, both nationally and globally. However, from another point of view, the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic actually open opportunities for further research and innovation in the social welfare field.
