The Nuraa Women's Institute International Conference on Women in Action for SDGs 2030 produced an outcome document entailing the future direction and action plan to reduce inequalities, enhance health and well-being for women all over the world.

International Conference on Women in Action For SDGs 2030: Reducing Inequalities,  Enhancing Health and Well Being, and Combating Climate Change

1. Reducing Inequalities

Objective: Address and reduce gender-based inequalities in various sectors.

Actions:

  1. Policy Advocacy: Advocate for policies that promote gender equality in education, employment, and political representation.
  2. Economic Empowerment: Implement programs that provide women with access to financial resources, training, and entrepreneurship opportunities.
  3. Legal Reforms: Push for legal reforms to protect women’s rights and ensure equal opportunities in all spheres of life.
  4. Community Engagement: Engage communities in dialogues and workshops to challenge and change gender norms and stereotypes. .

2. Enhancing Health and Wellbeing for Women

Objective: Improve the overall health and wellbeing of women through targeted interventions.

Actions:

  1. Healthcare Access: Ensure universal access to quality healthcare services, including maternal, sexual, and reproductive health services.
  2. Mental Health Support: Develop and expand mental health services tailored to women’s needs, focusing on prevention, early intervention, and responsive care
  3. Health Literacy: Increase health literacy among women through educational campaigns and community health
  4. Violence Prevention: Implement comprehensive programs to prevent and respond to violence against women and girls, including support services

3. Empowering Women as Catalysts for Climate Solutions

Objective: Leverage women’s potential to drive climate action and resilience.

Actions:

  1. Leadership and Participation: Promote women’s leadership and participation in climate decision-making processes at all levels
  2. Education and Training: Provide education and training on climate change, sustainable practices, and renewable energy technologies
  3. Resource Access: Ensure women have access to resources, finance, and technologies needed for climate adaptation and mitigation.
  4. Community-Based Solutions: Support community-led, gender-responsive climate solutions that address local needs and vulnerabilities.

4. Monitoring and Evaluation

Objective: Track progress and ensure accountability in implementing the action plan.

Actions:

  1. Data Collection: Collect and analyze gender-disaggregated data to monitor progress and identify gaps.
  2. Regular Reporting: Establish a system for regular reporting on the implementation of the action plan.
  3. Stakeholder Involvement: Involve stakeholders, including women’s groups and civil society organizations, in monitoring and evaluation processes.
  4. Continuous Improvement: Use feedback and data to continuously improve and adapt the action plan to emerging challenges and opportunities.

Nevertheless, Nuraa Women's Institute believes that conflict and war are the main factors that inhibit aforementioned efforts. As we have stated in our open letters, women and children continue to become the one group that are mostly impacted by wars and conflicts. Thus, these action plans can only be realized fully when the conflicts and war can be solved.

Going forward, Nuraa Women's Institute also hopes to be able to become part of and to continue collaborate with the Indonesia Sustainability Forum (ISF) to collectively aim for the achievement of SDGs 2030.
